Humane Society of Eastern Carolina Awarded PennyFix Grant to Combat Pet Overpopulation in Pitt County
Greenville, NC - The Humane Society of Eastern Carolina (HSEC) is thrilled to announce a $2,000 grant from PennyFix, an organization dedicated to ending pet overpopulation via spay/neuter initiatives. This crucial funding arrives as the Pitt County community continues to battle significant pet overpopulation, a challenge intensified by the 2024 closure of the Spay Today Clinic.
The PennyFix grant will directly fund HSEC's spay/neuter surgeries for animals in their care and the community, potentially including rabies and distemper vaccines. Ashley Gaskins, HSEC Board President stated, "We are incredibly grateful to PennyFix. This grant is instrumental in reducing homeless animals in Pitt County by increasing spay/neuter access, preventing unwanted litters, and easing shelter strain."
PennyFix empowers organizations like HSEC to implement effective spay/neuter programs, believing them key to managing animal populations. This grant significantly enhances HSEC’s capacity to address pet overpopulation causes while continuing its rescue, rehabilitation, and rehoming work. "This support from PennyFix is an investment in a better future for our community's animals," added Gaskins. "We thank PennyFix for recognizing our challenges and partnering with us for lasting solutions towards a future where every creature thrives."
