On Sunday, February 23, the friends and loved ones of Enrique “True Pair” Reyes gathered at Hunter’s Pointe in Washington, N.C., to celebrate his life and legacy. Enrique, a former biology professor at East Carolina University, was known for his passion for education, his love of the outdoors, and his deep compassion for animals. In his honor, his local shooting group organized a heartfelt memorial event that not only brought people together but also gave back to a cause he cared about.
The event featured a BBQ lunch, generously donated by Sam Jones BBQ, followed by a fun shoot where both experienced shooters and newcomers were welcome to participate or observe. Attendees shared stories, laughter, and gratitude while remembering Enrique’s impact on their lives.
In a touching tribute to Enrique’s love for animals, the group also collected donations for the Humane Society of Eastern Carolina (HSEC). Thanks to the generosity of those in attendance, a total of $1,121 was raised to support our mission. These funds will go directly toward rescuing, rehabilitating, and rehoming animals in need throughout Eastern Carolina.
We are incredibly grateful to Mike and Laurie Oliver of Hunter’s Pointe for providing the facilities and hosting this meaningful gathering, to everyone who donated to us, and to Enrique's friends and family for welcoming us and helping us make a difference despite their grief. We would also like to thank Jim Naves for his hospitality and the shooting instruction he provided.
Enrique’s kindness and compassion continue to make an impact, and we are honored to have been chosen as the beneficiary of this special tribute. His legacy lives on—not only in the hearts of those who knew him but also in the lives of the animals this donation will help save.
Thank you to all who participated and supported this event in Enrique’s memory. Your generosity ensures that his love for animals continues to make a difference.

Been trying to understand the real edge in blackjack, and honestly, reading through some community experiences clarified things more than any guide. The way people break down counting cards without overcomplicating strategies really helped. I even tried a few online simulations and it was surprisingly manageable. For anyone curious, you might want to check out https://slotcity.ua/live/live-Blackjack for a live table feel-it’s an interesting way to practice. The discussions emphasized patience and observation over risky shortcuts, which felt like authentic advice.
