The Adoption Process
We now welcome walk-ins for adoptions on Thursdays and Fridays from 1– 4 PM and Saturdays from 11 AM – 4 PM.
However, please keep in mind that adopters who have already submitted an application and scheduled an appointment will be our first priority, and space may be limited during walk-in hours. Since we are a small staff and want to make the adoption process as smooth as possible, we strongly encourage you to fill out an application in advance even if you plan to walk in. An application is required before you can adopt. If our walk-in times don’t work for your schedule, no problem -just fill out an application, and one of our adoption counselors will help arrange another day and time that works for you.
If you're just looking to visit and pet animals, we kindly ask that you consider signing up to volunteer instead. This helps us keep adoption time slots available for those who are actively looking to add a new pet to their family. If you are serious about adopting, we’d love to help you find your perfect match!
Step One: Adoption Application
Fill our our adoption application - we have one for those interested in adopting a dog/puppy and a cat/kitten. This form allows our Adoption Counselors to help you find the right forever friend to match your lifestyle. If you already have someone in mind, let us know and we can set up a meet and greet.
Step Two: Adoption Appointment
After a staff member reviews the Adoption Application, they will be in touch to set up an appointment with an Adoption Counselor and your potential forever friend! The Adoption Counselor will review basic information with you including your lifestyle, expectations in a companion, your prior experience with pets, and more. This allows us to help you find the best fit for your family.

If you already have a furry friend, the Adoption Counselor will help you set up a meet and greet to ensure all family members are excited for the new addition. The goal is to ensure that all of the animals in our care are set up for success in their new family!
Step Three: Adoption Paperwork
Your meet and greet went great and you are ready to bring your new family member home! Now you get to finalize and your Adoption Counselor will lead you through all of the necessary paperwork and discuss any background history and answer all additional questions. All adoption fees must be paid at the time the adoption contract is signed. We are able to accept cash and credit or debit card, but unfortunately cannot accept checks.
Step Four: Welcome Home!
Our Adoption Team is always available to address any concerns or questions you may have in the days following the introduction of your new pet into your home. We always love follow up stories and photos that we can share to our Happy Tails page! Tell us how your new companion has filled into your life!
