Mack

A Great Addition to the Family

Mack taking a nap on the couch - one of his favorite places to sleep.

Hi!  I adopted a dog named Snickers on September 26th, and I thought I’d provide you with an update. J

We have re-named him Mack.  Mack had his first trip to the vet on Monday and passed with flying colors.  The vet thinks he’s part Beagle and isn’t so sure about the Bernese Mountain Dog that was the guess of HSEC.  Nonetheless, she thinks he will be 55-70 pounds so clearly there’s something larger than a Beagle in him.

Mack has been teething—he’s lost three teeth!

Although Mack was not assumed to be house trained, we have had relatively little difficulty with this transition.  He’s only had one accident in the house, and is definitely accustomed to going outside (though we’re currently working on sending him out into the backyard, which is fenced in, without us present).  He is also crate trained.

Mack has become quite accustomed to having a family and is even protective.  He gets upset when he perceives any threat to our kids—for example, when my wife or I change my son’s diaper, he barks and jumps.  We need to work on the jumping—the first obedience class was on Thursday but it was without dogs so we’re not very far along at this point.

Mack has taken numerous walks around the neighborhood and has met several other dogs.  He has behaved well with all of them.

I have attached a picture of Mack in one of his favorite places (the couch) with my daughter.

Thanks for rescuing Mack and making him available to be adopted—we have found a wonderful pet!
