Milo (formerly Nestor)

One Lucky Black Dog!

Milo kickin' back in his new home

We learned about Milo when he was the Pet of the Week on WITN TV one morning in November, 2006.  He looked so much like our dog, Kida, that we were interested right away.  We found out that Milo had been at the Humane Society for over a year, and that he had an injured back leg when he came to HSEC.  We went to meet Milo at his foster mom's house and fell in love with him right away.  He was such a sweet playful guy.  We couldn't believe that someone hadn't adopted him yet!  Milo was a little timid when we first met him, but soon relaxed and we had a great visit.  He didn't even mind when our special needs son checked him out by pulling his tail, touching his teeth, and prodding him all over.  After that first visit we already had a place in our hearts for him.  We returned 2 more times to visit and even brought our dog, Kida.  They got along great and we decided to adopt Milo.

He was scheduled to have surgery to remove his injured leg.  We waited a month until he recovered and then we were able to adopt him.  Milo became a part of our family in January, 2007.  It's like he was meant for us - he fit right in.  Our daughter has already taught him some tricks and we have begun basic obedience training.  Milo and Kida have become best pals.  They love to play, run, chase, go for walks, and get into trouble together!  After a hard day of playing, they like to snuggle up together and take a nap.  Removing Milo's injured leg seems to have given him a new freedom to run, turn, sit, and lay every which way.  He's just such an exuberant little guy!

We are so glad to have Milo as part of our lives.  We appreciate all that the Humane Society, and especially Milo's foster mom, did to keep him healthy and happy.  Thank you so much for taking care of him while he was waiting for us to find him!
