Kedzie

Our First Child

What a beautiful gal Kedzie is!

My wife and I adopted Kedzie (“Sara” was her name at PCHS) in June of 2004.  Although I grew up with dogs and have always been a huge animal lover, I was hesitant to adopt at the time because my wife and I were both very busy (who isn’t?).  I just wanted to be sure that we would be able to give a dog the time and energy that he/she needed.  Eventually, my wife convinced me to go with her to PCHS “just to look at the dogs,” knowing full well what the outcome would be.  Her scheme worked, and we left with a playful, energetic border collie/hound/beagle mix.  Not only had I given in to getting a dog, but against my better judgment, I agreed to get a pup that required A LOT of stimulation.  A year and a half later, my only regret is putting off the trip to the humane society for so long.  The reality of a busy schedule is that you just have to make time for what’s important, and Kedzie’s happiness and well being is of the highest importance to us.

Adopting a pet is a serious commitment and does require a great deal of time and effort.  These animals count on us to hold up our end of the bargain when we agree to take care of them forever, and they deserve nothing less.  While this means hard work at times, the rewards far outweigh the effort.  In our experiences with Kedzie, no matter how much we give her, she always manages to give us even more in return… the best part is, she doesn’t even realize it.
