Sassy

A Lucky Gal

Sassy and her new Mommy, Kirsten.

I had seen Sassy on Petfinder around the beginning of December of 2004; I was looking for a Border Collie (pure or mixed) and I saw Sassy. She looked so sweet with her one blue eye and one brown eye and her white whiskers. I feel in love with her at first sight. I decided that I'd look around some more, but the more I looked, the more I wanted Sassy. So every other weekend for about 2 months I went up to Greenville (I live in New Bern) and was trying to find PCHS with no avail. I didn't know my way around Greenville at the time either. Finally, on February 9th, 2005, I found the PCHS. I was so excited-I'd get to see Sassy in person if she was still there. So my fiancé' and I met Sassy and she licked us all over and I knew I had to have her. I talked to Ms. Anita and we discussed the issues in Sassy's past (including car phobia and possibly not getting along with other pets) and I felt sure we could overcome any issues she would have since I work at a Veterinary Clinic and one of our doctors is a behavior specialist; just in case. I made the decision to get Sassy and came up the next Saturday to pick her up; she had been at PCHS since May-June of 2004. I was worried she wouldn't like the hour-long car ride because of her past, but she jumped right in the driver's seat as if saying "I'm ready to get outta here!" (Not in a bad way because I'm sure everyone treated her nicely at PCHS) She did wonderful on the way home, no sedation or anything needed, she just gave us lots of kisses at the stop lights. Once we got home, we let her see the house and the back yard. Then she had to meet our other pets one by one. Sassy gets along with my other dog great! They played together for about 2 hours that evening. She loves to sit and watch the cats too-she quite the curious pooch. She likes it outside and comes inside whenever she wants. I feel like this dog was meant for me and she's the sweetest thing. I promise she's got a great home and lots of love and attention coming her way. I honestly don't think there will be any issues relapsing from her past. Thanks so much! Everyone that I met was very nice and I'll keep you posted.

Sincerely,
