A Hurricane Floyd Happy Ending

What a happy (and lucky) little girl Wylie is!

Hello PCHS!

I was a student at ECU from 1995-2000.  I never thought I would adopt a dog in college, until hurricane Floyd.  The day after the hurricane, I still had power in my apartment.  There was a live broadcast from your facility on the news saying that it was flooding, and the animals needed to be taken for foster care.  I immediately got in my car.  I'll never forget the ride over, I was a little nervous because I didn't know what to expect.  My heart was joyed when I pulled up and saw the many people who were there to help.  I said that I could take a small dog or puppy because I only had an apartment.  That is when a little black puppy was given to me.  She was cute, although not what I had always pictured myself getting.  I was dead set on getting a Boxer from a breeder when I graduated from ECU.  But still, I told myself it's just foster care  for a few weeks.  Well, here we are 5+ years later.  I couldn't imagine my life without Wylie.  She has been everything I could ever ask for in  a loving companion, protector, and friend.  Since my experience with adopting a mixed breed from a humane society, I wouldn't do it any other way.  My husband and I have since adopted Wylie two brothers.  Pete is from a rescue organization in Richmond called FURS (Friends United with the Richmond Shelter), and Buddy was rescued on a hot summer day from the side of the road.  We are a happy little "pack."

I want to thank you at PCHS for giving me the opportunity to adopt the best little black dog in the world.

Sincerely,
Missy Maxwell Corrada
