Heather & Greg Davis & Zoe & Bandi

Heather and Greg (not pictured) Davis and Zoe and Bandi raised $1,300 in pledges for the Ninth Annual Canine Crawl.  They were our big money raisers of the day - and for last year's event as well!  Heather and Greg are true animal lovers whose heart knows no bounds when it comes to helping animals.  Zoe and Bandi are just two of the lucky pooches they've rescued and both these gals were adopted from the Humane Society of Eastern Carolina.  They are two of the lucky pack of rescue dogs and cats that get to call the Davis house home.
The Humane Society of Eastern Carolina thanks Heather, Zoe and Bandi for being faithful supporters of homeless animals in eastern North Carolina!

Susie Yates & Lana

Susie & Lana raised $419 in pledges for the Canine Crawl.  Susie and some of her other rescue dogs have been big money raisers for the past several years.  Lana came into DRNA on January 23, 2009.  Susie was contacted about a 'drop-box' dog in the Beaufort County Animal Shelter.  Information about this dachshund was she was emaciated, unable to walk, & probably was not a candidate for rescue - much less adoption.  Susie - always ready to give a dog in need a chance - obtained permission from the DRNA Board Members for Lana to be a rescue dog and became her foster mom.  Lana then weighed 8.8 lbs. & today weighs 11 lbs.  She was strong heartworm positive, terrible case of ear mites, flea-infested, & had nasty breath!    After some tender loving care and good veterinary care, Lana is considered a very healthy little dachshund girl!    Oh, & she does walk & run, & sometimes looks like a 'hippidy-hoppidy'  bunny, which just  makes her even cuter!!   Whatever Lana's age is - she DEFINITELY has a puppy attitude & behavior, as she ADORES stuffed toys & the floor is not 'right' unless ALL of the toys are strewn about!    (Don't dare pick them up & put them in the doggy toy box, as promptly pulls them All out again!!)  Susie does her part for homeless animals year round with her tireless rescue efforts with Dachshund Rescue of America.  If you are interested in learning more about the organization, please visit  www.drna.org and www.columbusco.org/shelterdogs.swf.  The Humane Society of Eastern Carolina thanks Susie and Lana and all her rescue dogs for being faithful supporters of homeless animals in eastern North Carolina!

Lorayne & Bryan Smithson & Tarheel Louie

Lorayne & Bryan & Tarheel Louie raised $420 in pledges for the Canine Crawl.  This is their second year in a row being a big money raiser at the Canine Crawl.  Tarheel Louie is a two and a half year old Basset Hound.  Picking his name was rather easy as Bryan is a Carolina graduate and Lorayne is a lifetime Carolina fan.  Lorayne and Bryan say that he has brought great joy into their lives.  He is absolutely the smartest Basset Hound they've have ever had and look forward to seeing him after a hard day's work. Lorayne, Bryan and Tarheel Louie would like to thank everyone who helped with a donation to support this year's Canine Crawl for Humane Society of Eastern Carolina.  The Humane Society of Eastern Carolina thanks Lorayne, Bryan and Tarheel Louie for being all around great supporters of homeless animals in eastern North Carolina!

Katherine Kenyon-Gose & London & Paris

Katherine is 12 years old and this is her SIXTH year raising money for the Canine Crawl.  She and London and Paris raised $365 in pledges for the Canine Crawl.  Katherine is home schooled so she gets to spend lots of quality time with her rescue pooches while she is studying.  Every year she goes door to door asking for sponsors and explains what a good cause the Humane Society is.  She really wants to work with dogs when she grows up.  The Humane Society of Eastern Carolina thanks Katherine and London and Paris for being faithful supporters of homeless animals in eastern North Carolina!
