Humane Society of Eastern Carolina

6th Annual Canine Crawl

March 25, 2006

What a great day we had!  Everything came together wonderfully – weather, participants, and  volunteers – to make the best Canine Crawl yet.  The Canine Crawl was dedicated to Deyonne Brewer, a loyal Humane Society supporter and former Canine Crawl Committee Chairperson.  The day was a fitting tribute to Deyonne.  We would like to thank everyone who helped make the day a success.

There was a big turnout of participants who raised a lot of money in pledges and a strong showing of volunteers who helped make the day run smoothly!  Please note that all the pictures of the day are not yet posted, so check back soon to see them all!

We had three sets of participants who raised over $275 in pledges to participate in the Canine Crawl.

A BIG THANK YOU to them for working so hard at raising money.

Jim, Tisha, Nemo and Gracie McAtee raised $550 in pledges to participate in the Canine Crawl.

Jim and Tisha adopted Nemo, a Black Lab Basset Hound mix, about a year ago from Friends of the Pitt County Animal Shelter.  He has passed his Canine Good Citizenship certification and is in the process of becoming a certified therapy dog.  This laid back, low rider is as gentle as they come.  In December 2005, Jim and Tisha decided Nemo needed a sister.  Gracie was another Friends of the Pitt County Animal Shelter rescue.  She is a Golden Retriever Corgi mix and the perfect pal for Nemo as she is as gentle and laid back as he is.  The Humane Society of Eastern Carolina thank Jim and Tisha for adopting two homeless animals in need and being all around great supporters of homeless animals in eastern North Carolina!

Pamela, Mitzi and Winston Witherington raised $300 in pledges to participate in the Canine Crawl.

Pamela and Mitzi with Winston, a 3 year old pure breed Rat Terrier, at the Canine Crawl.  Winston enjoys spending time snuggling on the couch or playing with his many toys.  He has two feline siblings, Idgie and Sebastian.  He is know as "Deputy Dog" around his house as he is always keeping the cats "in line".  Winston is proud to be part of helping the homeless pets of eastern North Carolina.  The Humane Society of Eastern Carolina thank Pamela, Mitzi and Winston for being all around great supporters of homeless animals in eastern North Carolina!

Katherine Kenyon and Ran raised $275 in pledges to participate in the Canine Crawl.

Katherine is 9 years old and this is her third year raising money for the Canine Crawl.  She and Ran, ,a female English Pointer mix make a great pair!  Katherine is home schooled so she gets to spend lots of quality time with Ran while she is studying.  Every year she goes door to door asking for sponsors and explains what a good cause the Humane Society is.  She really wants to work with dogs when she grows up.  The Humane Society of Eastern Carolina thank Katherine and Ran for being all around great supporters of homeless animals in eastern North Carolina!
